Context: Mental health problems are extremely common all over the world and contribute significantly to illness impairments. There is an acknowledged need for interventions that focus on prevention foster mental health, fulfill this need, sports offer a promising way promote avoid beginning of illness. In study, literature review presented about association between participation across lifespan. Objectives: To determine get information benefits can be achieved by increased in sports, both general public professional athletes at any age. Methods: conduct review, search different databases was carried out research articles with key terms "sports participation” “mental health" find their association. Results: Participation found positively associated psychological well-being connected fewer problems. Sports higher self-esteem lower risk anxiety, depression, social-behavioral inhibition adolescents. led reduced smoking type personality resistant alcohol drug addiction. club membership, high or moderately frequent participation, outdoor team contact competition were linked internalizing Conclusions: beneficial children, adolescents, adults. Team clubs especially advantageous due social support. Creating opportunities lead promotion health.
